IAHPM · 13 October 2026 · Version 1.0

Describe the use journey

Name the product configuration, intended user, home setting and any carer, application or professional service involved. Review the journey from opening the package through continued use and support.

Information checklist

Stage Information to check Evidence or record Owner Gap/action
Set-up Included parts, positioning, account/connection, readiness check
Measurement User action, conditions, feedback on errors
Result Units, status, uncertainty, reading vs interpretation
Support Repeated failure, contact route, escalation
Continued use Cleaning, calibration where relevant, consumables, updates, end of life

Worked change example

A hypothetical software update changes a status icon and adds a trend view. The review checks whether the meaning remains clear, whether instructions and support material use the same symbols, whether the trend could be mistaken for a diagnosis, and whether the evidence record covers the updated presentation.

Failure and recovery

Walk through an incorrect set-up, failed measurement, low power, loss of connection and unavailable service. Record what the person sees, what action is safe within the product instructions and where support begins. Do not rely on a generic “error” message where the next step differs.

Limits

This checklist supports an information review. It does not give personal medical advice, set clinical thresholds or replace product-specific human-factors, risk or regulatory work.
