A practical way to describe product purpose, users and functions before discussing evidence or market requirements.

Health watches, wristbands, rings and other sensor-based products turn measurements into information people use in daily life. Understanding what that information means is as important as producing the measurement.

This sector includes wearable and consumer technologies with a defined health, activity or wellbeing purpose. The scope follows the function and intended use of a product; a conventional electronic watch is not included simply because it is worn on the wrist.
A performance result needs context: what was measured, the reference method, the users studied, the conditions of use and the hardware and software versions. Performance in a controlled setting may not describe every setting in which a product is used.
The name of a metric, the wording of a notification and the appearance of a dashboard can influence what a user believes a product can do. Product information should remain consistent with the intended purpose and supporting evidence.
