Scope and product classification
The term health product describes the scope of IAHPM's industry work. It is not a single legal product category and does not establish a product's status in any market.

Start with the product's purpose
Describe what the product does, who uses it, where it is used and what is said about it. A consumer activity tracker, a monitoring function used in care and a diagnostic test can raise different questions even where some technology is shared.
Separate sector labels from market requirements
The website uses sectors to organise subjects and resources. Product requirements must be assessed in the relevant jurisdiction, with reference to the actual configuration, intended use and claims. Inclusion in an IAHPM sector or directory does not settle that assessment.
Products with more than one function
Hardware, applications and connected services may each have a distinct purpose. Document the functions and their dependencies rather than assuming that one description covers the entire system. Material changes in function or claims may require a fresh assessment.
Using our resources
Check the product scope, jurisdiction and date of a resource before applying it. An Association briefing may explain questions or describe a policy issue; the issuing authority remains the source for official requirements.
Ask about the Association's scope
For membership or subject-routing enquiries, provide a concise product description, the role of your organisation and the markets concerned. Do not include confidential technical files in the initial enquiry.
