Build the map
Record the exact statement and where it appears. Split compound language into parts that can be assessed separately. A sentence may combine an output, a performance claim and an implied user outcome even when only the output is directly described by the product record.

Example: wearable
Draft: “The watch provides a clinically accurate sleep score.”
Available material: an evaluation of agreement for sleep/wake classification in a stated adult sample and configuration.
Review: the source may concern classification performance; it does not automatically support the undefined term “clinically accurate”, the composite score, every user or every software version.
Possible bounded wording: describe the evaluated metric and conditions using the terminology and result actually reported, subject to the product and market review.
Example: nutrition product
A published study about an ingredient cannot automatically support a statement for every formulation containing that ingredient. Record the ingredient form, amount, formulation, population and use in both the source and finished product. Mark every material difference before deciding whether another basis is needed.
Example: connected service
“Shares measurements with your care team” requires more than a device's ability to create a value. Record the connection, receiving service, user permissions, delivery status and conditions under which a recipient can view the information. Do not imply review or action by another person unless that service is actually part of the arrangement.
Preserve the decision
Keep the source version, reviewer, decision, wording approved and product version. Reopen the map when the statement, product, source or market changes.
