about
Purpose and principles
IAHPM's purpose is to support responsible health-product manufacturing through technical exchange, evidence-informed discussion and collective work on industry issues.

Quality throughout the product lifecycle
Product quality depends on decisions made before a product reaches its user. Our agenda considers materials, suppliers, design, manufacture, information, distribution and learning from use. The relevant controls differ between products and markets.
Evidence that answers the right question
Evidence should address the product, intended purpose and population concerned. Clear distinctions between a measurement, an observed association and a demonstrated benefit help manufacturers communicate accurately and identify where further work is needed.
Useful information
Users, professional customers and public authorities need information they can interpret. We support clear descriptions of product purpose, performance, limitations and appropriate use.
Participation with responsibility
Industry exchange should allow different technical perspectives to be heard. Participants declare relevant interests, respect confidential information and work within an agreed remit. Association discussions do not provide a forum for coordinating commercially sensitive decisions.
Putting the principles into practice
These principles guide the choice of topics, the design of projects and the review of publications. Each workstream sets out the issue it addresses and the resources or opportunities associated with it.
